Peter has over 20 years’ experience in teaching and leadership roles in inner London schools and was appointed as Headteacher of Hertswood Academy in Borehamwood in 2012.
The academy is part of the Meller Educational Trust (MET) and is a non-selective 11-18 mixed comprehensive with 1300 students. Previously named Hertswood School, and with results at GCSE being one of the lowest in Hertfordshire in 2012, during the past 4 years the academy has recorded consecutive rises in results both at GCSE and in the Sixth Form, against a backdrop of falling results nationally.
Recognised as one of the top 10 most improved schools in England at GCSE, Hertswood Academy also has a Sixth Form of 250 students and has recorded a dramatic increase in the number of successful university applications, including to Oxbridge. Last academic year, over 75% of students attending university from the Hertswood Academy Sixth Form were the first in their family to do so.”
