In the run up to The Academies Show on April 26th 2017, we are asking a number of our speakers and sponsors for their thoughts and opinions on the academies and wider education sector, and what the future may hold for those in teaching, and other education roles.
Hear from Anita Devi FRSA, Chair and Director of Support 4 Learning iHub:
In light of the new funding system, what are the biggest challenges and opportunities for high needs in schools going forward?
Smarter procurement and commissioning processes
The Government is due to release its proposals for reforming the school system. What do you hope/expect for these proposals?
The greater engagement by schools with Social Value Act 2012 and social enterprises.
With increased demand in SEND provision in the sector, how will schools preserve an effective child-centred approach, and support SENCO workloads?
SENCO workload – read my ebook on Time Management for SENCOs and attend the Academies Show session #senco5aday
Streamline the paperwork – less is more!
What do you think the sector will look like in 5 years’ time?
An embedded SEND system with real co-production and focus on outcomes not paperwork. Greater parental confidence in the system.
Poverty being positively addressed at the grass roots levels.
Improved intragenerational social mobility for educators and pupils.
Finally, what is the one message that you would want visitors to take away with them from the Academies Show London 2017?
These are tough times; however, remain solution-focussed. Too easy to focus on what’s not working. There is a lot that is working and improving. Let’s do more to drive the community-wide and inclusive growth agenda.
